Here Are Some Useful Tools for Vegan Cooking

Since we believe in using the whole food we recomend the following:

The Vita Mix blender- This is one of the best investments you can make if you want to make nut milks and fruit smoothies. They are much more powerful then the other models and will save you money in the long run. We use ours almost daily. We will be telling more about how to use it as we develope this website.

The Champion Juicer- This can be found at many health food stores. If you don't have one near you you can order one from Modern Manna This is another good investment. We use it in our home for making nut butter, crushing ice and many other things that can't be done in a blender.

Braun Coffee Mill- This is a very effective mill for grinding whole grains into flour. If you want one for coffee and you also want to grind grain we recommend that you buy two. We don't recommend the use of coffee but if you do you won't want to make coffee flavored breads or coffee with flour in it. This can be found in many housewares stores. The one we recommend has a hopper in the top for pouring the grain into and a cup on the side to hold the flour. It has an adjustable setting for a more corse grain that is good for making hot cereals. One reason we recommend this for grain is that it doesn't heat the grain in the milling process. For best nutrition it is best that the grain not become hot when being milled.

Bakers Stone- This is a large flat pourous stone often used for making pizza. It can be found in many kitchen and housewares type stores. It can be useful in making oil free crackers as well as pizza and other flat breads.  We will be sharing recipes and ideas for using a bakers stone.
